Created in 2002, as a side hobby by its founder and sole owner Mohamed Ezzouak , Yabiladi had by 2008 reached one million viewers a month. Its content was designed at first to meet the demands and needs of Moroccan expats and French speakers of Moroccan descent. The company Web Stratégie *hyperlink* was created in 2007 to support and professionalize the web news outlet.
The specificity of this outlet lies in the fact that it is both a newspaper and a forum where mainly Moroccan residing abroad exchange. It publishes in three languages (French, Arabic and English). One of its aims is to expand its readership base to other diasporas of North African (Maghreb) and African descent.
