All TV, radio and print media outlets monitored by MOM have a legal status and are directly owned by a Moroccan media company. As for the online media, it should be noted that since early 2018, they are all required to be run by a registered media company.
We have thus compiled the thirty-eight media companies or groups that own the forty-six media outlets included in this analysis. The large majority do not own several outlets, are present in only one media sector and do not hold investments in other sectors of the economy. Key economic players, the royal family and the state are present mainly in the TV sector, a section of the radio sector and French-language print outlets.
